The Ottawa Street BIA plays an integral part in the maintenance, beautification and promotion of Ottawa Street.
The Ottawa Street BIA is the oldest BIA in Windsor having been formed in 1976. With boundaries from Windermere to Marentette, the BIA spans 10 blocks of Ottawa Street between Walker Rd. to the east and Howard Ave. to the West.
In 1983 the BIA undertook a monumental task of updating the infrastructure and beautifying the street. The BIA co-ordinated their efforts with three levels of government to acquire funding from the Needs Program for the 1st phase of street beautification and reconstruction which encompassed 5 blocks of Ottawa Street from Windermere to Pierre.
In 1989 the BIA then co-ordinated with the provincial and municipal governments for additional funding with a CAIP grant for the 2nd phase of reconstruction from Pierre to Elsmere.
The BIA takes an active role in the promotion of Ottawa Street. It co-ordinates 6 sales events each year and held its 1st Annual Great Tastes of Ottawa Street Festival to benefit the Windsor Downtown Lion's Club's charitable activities.
The current board of directors of the BIA includes President, Arnie Blaine, co-owner of Karen's 4or Kids and Vice President, Ennio Sperduti, owner of Per Bacco Ristorante. To contact any of the board members directly please click here.
